Friendswood was founded in 1895 by Quakers, and the town retains something of that origin in its name and its street layout. It sits in the corridor that grew around NASA’s Johnson Space Center a few miles east in Clear Lake — the area’s population expanded rapidly through the 1960s as the space programme drew engineers and their families to the Gulf Coast.
Heat practice reads differently in Texas than in New England.
