Awaken Wholeness Center in Richmond serves rural southwestern Rhode Island, a part of the state most visitors never see.

Richmond covers a large area of woodland and farmland between the coast and the Connecticut border, with the Wood River running through it and the Arcadia Management Area — the state’s largest conservation holding, over fourteen thousand acres — immediately adjacent. It is the quietest corner of the most densely populated state in the country after New Jersey.

That setting suits the practice. The Wood River is one of the cleanest in New England and cold year-round, giving genuine options for the cold half of the circuit rather than the engineered substitute a tub provides.

Rural facilities serve a dispersed population and generally run on booked appointments with narrower hours than metro-area operations. That is not a limitation so much as a reflection of how the practice works locally — regular attendance by people who live nearby rather than occasional visits from a wide catchment.
