Spa Fjör

Spa Fjör takes its name from the Old Norse and Icelandic root meaning life or vitality, which places it in the Nordic tradition by intent rather than by decoration.

Iceland’s bathing culture is distinct from the Finnish one and worth knowing about. Where Finland built around the dry hot room, Iceland built around geothermal water — outdoor pools at varying temperatures, used year-round in weather that would empty any outdoor pool elsewhere, and treated as ordinary civic infrastructure rather than as leisure. The hot pot, a small very hot pool used socially, is the centre of it.
