Based in Saco, Maine, Driftless Sauna is a passionate small business built around a single, powerful conviction: that traditional wood-fired sauna is one of the most effective tools available for physical and mental well-being. Founded in 2023 after a personal journey through overwork and chronic health challenges, Driftless Sauna was built from lived experience — and that authenticity shows in every detail of the experience they deliver.

The heart of the operation is Phoenix — a 12-by-7-foot mobile cedar sauna handcrafted to exacting standards, meticulously cleaned between every use, and capable of reaching 180°F within 15 to 30 minutes on dry firewood. Phoenix comfortably seats 3 to 4 adults and arrives fully equipped with wood, kindling, a water bucket and ladle, essential oils, a whisking broom (venik), and towels. A cold bath tank is available as an add-on for the complete contrast therapy experience.

Driftless Sauna delivers Phoenix directly to your location — free within 20 miles of Saco. The mobile setup is ideal for vacation rentals, lakeside camps, yoga retreats, wedding weekends, bachelorette parties, and private events throughout southern Maine. Rental rates start at $325 for a single weekday session, with weekend and multi-day packages available.

Beyond rentals, Driftless also builds custom freestanding wood-fired saunas using locally sourced cedar from family-owned Maine lumber mills. The company donates 1% of every purchase to conservation efforts — because the wild places that inspire the sauna tradition are worth protecting. Heat restores. Cold awakens. Nature is the teacher.
