Richmond Corner Sauna

Richmond Corner Sauna is one of Maine’s most storied and beloved wellness destinations — a Finnish sauna tradition that has welcomed guests since 1976. Built by Richard Jarvi, whose Finnish grandparents maintained their own sauna house in rural Vermont, the Richmond Sauna was born from a deep, lived understanding of the sauna as a place for community, healing, and authentic human connection. Today it continues to honor that tradition as a genuine Finnish wood-fired sauna experience in a secluded woodland setting in Richmond.
The facility features multiple wood-fired sauna rooms, a nine-person outdoor hot tub, a heated indoor swimming pool, and ample sunbathing grounds — creating a complete thermal wellness circuit that guests can move through at their own pace. Community sauna sessions are available at $40 per person. Semi-private saunas are $50 per person and can be reserved in advance. The venue is open Wednesday through Sunday, with sauna hours from 6 to 10 p.m. and pool and lawn access from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. seasonally.
Richmond Corner Sauna embraces a clothing-optional, adults-only policy rooted in the naturist tradition of Nordic sauna culture — a relaxed, body-positive environment where guests of all backgrounds arrive seeking the same thing: warmth, community, and restoration. As Down East Magazine noted in naming it one of Maine’s 50 Adventures, this is a place unlike anywhere else in New England. Located just over 20 minutes from Augusta and 40 minutes from Portland, it rewards the drive entirely.
