Sulaa Sauna

Sulaa Sauna is a beautifully conceived mobile wood-fired sauna experience that rotates between some of Maine’s most scenic locations throughout the year — spending time in the Belgrade Lakes region in summer and fall, Carrabassett Valley during ski season, and Freeport in the shoulder seasons. Unlike a fixed sauna, Sulaa operates like a pop-up wellness destination: the sauna stays in one location for 6 to 12 weeks at a time, becoming a genuine part of the local community before moving on to its next home. The experience is rooted in the traditional Nordic sauna circuit: three to four rounds of 5 to 15 minutes in wood-fired heat at 160 to 190°F, alternating with cold plunges in natural Maine waters — lakes, rivers, or snow — between rounds. Community sessions accommodate up to 12 guests, offering an accessible, social sauna experience. Private sessions give groups exclusive access for intimate gatherings, celebrations, or quiet personal practice. Sulaa also hosts special events including candlelit sessions and women’s wellness retreats. Towels, water shoes, and hydration are recommended; fragrance-free products are requested to keep the air clean. Follow Sulaa Sauna online or by email to track the current location and book sessions.
