Walnut Beach Wellness Center takes its name from the Milford neighbourhood it sits in, on the Long Island Sound shoreline.

Walnut Beach is one of Milford’s older shore neighbourhoods, with a boardwalk, a small arts district along Naugatuck Avenue, and a stretch of sand facing the Sound. It sits beside Silver Sands State Park, from which a sandbar — the tombolo — emerges at low tide and allows you to walk out to Charles Island. The island itself is closed through nesting season and carries a persistent local legend about buried Captain Kidd treasure.

For sauna purposes the location matters. Long Island Sound is warmer than the open Atlantic but still cold enough through most of the year to serve the cold half of a contrast circuit, and a facility a short walk from the water can offer the sequence in its original form rather than in a tub.
