SWTHZ Preston Royal

SweatHouz Preston Royal serves North Dallas, at the intersection that gives the location its name.

Preston Road runs north from downtown Dallas along what was originally the Preston Trail, a route used for cattle drives to Kansas railheads in the nineteenth century. The Preston Royal intersection sits in the middle of some of the city’s more established residential neighbourhoods — Preston Hollow, where several Dallas institutions and a former president live, is immediately adjacent.

The SweatHouz model is a private room with an infrared sauna, a cold plunge and a rainfall shower, booked by the hour with nobody else in it. The privacy is the central design decision and it removes the two things that put people off communal facilities: sharing a bench, and attempting a cold plunge with an audience.

North Texas inverts the usual appeal. Summers above 100°F make a hot room a harder sell, and mild winters mean the cold half needs a tub rather than an open door. The plunge carries more weight here than it does further north.
