Cure Day Spa in Stonington offers a full treatment menu with heat, on Connecticut’s eastern shoreline near the Rhode Island border.

Stonington covers both the borough — a working fishing village on a peninsula, home to the state’s last commercial fleet — and the larger town including part of Mystic. It is among the more attractive stretches of the Connecticut coast and considerably quieter than the Mystic village centre a few miles west.

The day spa model puts treatments at the centre with thermal facilities available around them. For many purposes that is the better arrangement: a sauna before a massage warms and loosens tissue, and the two together are more effective than either alone. Every bathhouse tradition that included bodywork arrived at the same sequence independently.

It does mean the sauna may not be sold separately. Worth confirming if a heat session is specifically what you are after.

Stonington sits off I-95 near the Rhode Island line with Amtrak service at Mystic. Appointments book in advance, particularly through the summer.

Stonington borough is worth the extra few miles east of Mystic. The working fishing fleet and the quieter streets make a better afternoon than the village centre in high season.
