New England Amish Saunas builds saunas rather than operating one to visit — worth stating plainly so nobody drives to Willington expecting a session.

Amish-built structures have a particular reputation in New England, earned largely through barns, sheds and outbuildings. The relevant qualities for a sauna are the same ones that matter in those: solid timber framing, tight joinery, and construction methods that assume the thing will stand for decades without maintenance.

That matters more in a sauna than in most buildings. A sauna cycles between roughly 190°F and ambient temperature repeatedly, with high humidity in between, and that cycling destroys poor construction quickly. Joints open, panels warp, insulation fails. A room built to survive it needs the right species of timber, correct fastening, and proper vapour management — none of which is visible once the room is finished.
