Inspired by the communal public saunas of Scandinavia, Timberstone Sauna is a mobile wood-fired sauna experience set within the stunning grounds of Wolfe’s Neck Center in Freeport, Maine. With sweeping coastal views and the clean salt air of Casco Bay as a backdrop, every session at Timberstone feels less like an appointment and more like an adventure.
Timberstone’s philosophy is rooted in accessibility and community — the belief that sauna is meant to be shared, not siloed. Sessions are available as shared hour-long bookings, where guests join others in the warm communal space in the tradition of European public saunas. Private group sessions are also available for families, friends, or gatherings seeking an exclusive outdoor experience. The wood-fired heat builds slowly and burns clean, producing the authentic löyly steam that defines Finnish sauna culture at its best.
Wolfe’s Neck Center is one of Maine’s most beloved sustainable farm and outdoor education destinations — making Timberstone Sauna a natural fit within a landscape defined by conservation, community, and connection to the land. Whether you’re a seasoned sauna practitioner or discovering wood-fired heat for the first time, Timberstone offers a beautifully simple, restorative outdoor experience unlike anything you’ll find indoors.
