Le Spa at The Weston

Le Spa at The Weston serves one of Vermont’s more picturesque village centres, in the Green Mountains between Ludlow and Manchester.

Weston has around six hundred residents, a village green, and the Weston Playhouse — the oldest professional theatre in Vermont, running since 1937. The Vermont Country Store, which built a mail-order business on nostalgia, has its original location here. It is a small place that receives a disproportionate number of visitors.

Boutique hotel spas in settings like this work differently from resort operations. Smaller, quieter, more considered, and generally serving both guests and a local population that would otherwise drive an hour for anything comparable.

The Vermont climate gives heat therapy real weight. Winters in the Green Mountains are long and properly cold, with snow on the ground from December through March most years. A hot room in that context is closer to necessity than indulgence — which is exactly the circumstance in which northern bathing traditions developed.
