Sugarbush Health & Recreation Center (SHaRC)

The Sugarbush Health & Recreation Center serves the resort in Warren, in the Mad River Valley of central Vermont.

Sugarbush covers around 580 acres across two mountains, Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen, the latter reaching 4,083 feet — the third-highest summit in the state. The Mad River Valley has a distinct character among Vermont ski areas: less developed than Killington, more locally rooted, and sharing the valley with Mad River Glen, the famously ungroomed cooperative next door that still bans snowboards.

Resort recreation centres pair fitness facilities with thermal ones, which suits the population. A day of skiing loads the legs hard and the cold keeps everything tight; heat afterwards is genuinely restorative.

Vermont supplies the cold half of the sequence free from November through March. A few minutes outside after a hot room does what a plunge pool is built to imitate.

Access at resort facilities is often tied to lodging or membership. Confirm before travelling, and expect peak demand at weekends and holiday weeks.

Mad River Glen sits a few miles up the valley, the famously ungroomed cooperative that still bans snowboards and runs a single chair from 1948. The valley has a character distinct from Vermont’s larger resorts.
