The Woods Resort & Spa sits at the base of Killington, offering lodging alongside a spa and thermal facilities.

Killington is the largest ski resort in the eastern United States, and the town exists largely because of it. Six peaks, roughly 1,500 acres of terrain, and a season that regularly runs from October into late May — the longest in the east by some margin.

A day on the mountain loads the legs eccentrically for hours and leaves muscles tight from cold; heat afterwards is genuinely restorative rather than merely pleasant. Vermont’s winter climate also means outdoor cold is freely available. A sauna followed by a few minutes outside in February needs no plunge pool at all.
