Killington is the largest ski area in the eastern United States: six peaks, roughly 1,500 skiable acres, and a 3,000-foot vertical drop. The season regularly runs from October into late May, the longest in the east by a wide margin, and the mountain draws heavily from Boston, New York and Connecticut.

A private sauna changes the shape of a ski trip. The Nordic sequence — hot room, cold exposure, rest, repeated — maps closely onto what a body wants after a day of eccentric loading in the cold, and having it in the house means using it properly rather than queuing for a resort facility at five o’clock.

The sauna and hot tub are different things worth understanding separately. A hot tub holds you at around 102°F in water, which limits how long the body can stay before core temperature climbs uncomfortably. A sauna in dry air allows evaporative cooling through the skin, which is why a longer session is possible at a far higher ambient temperature.
